Neon Divide
Two strangers living in different versions of the same city begin seeing each other through glitches in reality—and fall in love with someone who should not exist in their world.
A failed experiment splits a future city into two parallel realities that have no knowledge of one another. Kai lives in a cool, highly automated version of the city; Lena lives in a vivid neon counterpart shaped by dense street culture. They begin seeing each other in malfunctioning displays, window reflections, and dreams. When the two realities start to overlap, they can finally meet—only to learn that both worlds may not be able to survive.

Full story
After a city-scale quantum experiment fails, officials announce that the incident has been contained. In truth, the entire city has divided into two parallel realities. One is orderly, cool-toned, and governed by automation. The other is crowded, sensory, culturally intense, and visually saturated. Neither population knows the other exists.
Kai is a systems engineer in the blue-toned city. Lena runs an independent visual studio in the other reality. They begin seeing the same stranger—each other—in broken advertising screens, glass reflections, and recurring dreams. At first they assume the images are glitches. Then they discover they can communicate for a few seconds at specific locations where the realities overlap.
As the divide becomes unstable, both recover fragments of memories that belong to neither current life. In the original timeline, they knew each other. The split was not merely an accident; it was connected to an experiment designed to save one of them. When the two worlds begin consuming each other, Kai and Lena must decide whether to restore the original reality, preserve the divide, or attempt a third solution that no one knows will work.
