Read the viewing figure correctly
YouTube's September 2025 announcement said creators using multi-language audio saw, on average, more than 25% of watch time come from non-primary-language views, using data as of July 2025. That is a share of viewing, not a measured 25% increase caused by AI dubbing. The reported group was not identified as AI short-drama channels.
AI voice features still need a performance review
In February 2026, YouTube announced Expressive Speech in eight languages and a lip-sync pilot. Its help guidance still warns about names, idioms, accents and recognition errors, and provides manual review before publication. Access and language support should be checked for the actual channel and video; a product announcement is not confirmation that every scene qualifies.
T1Drama's reading: test one dramatic scene first
For an AI short drama, we recommend testing a scene with a clear emotional turn before localizing an entire season. Ask a fluent reviewer to check who is speaking, whether the intent remains clear and whether a pause or interruption changes the conflict. Check the translated title and subtitles alongside the audio, because an understandable voice track can still sit under misleading text.
Compare retention and returning viewers for that release, while recording review and correction costs. Keep the original audio available where the platform permits it. These are editorial testing suggestions, not a promise of extra views or a substitute for rights clearance. A successful language test supports the next experiment; it does not by itself prove a profitable market for the series.
