The public baseline
TikTok’s September 2023 announcement explains that realistic AI-generated images, audio and video require disclosure. The creator label also covers fully generated or substantially AI-edited material. These are general synthetic-media rules; the announcement does not create a commissioning route, licensing offer or guaranteed AI-drama distribution programme.
Automatic labels still need a workflow
In its May 2024 European announcement, TikTok described reading C2PA Content Credentials to label some externally produced AI content. That mechanism depends on available metadata. The same announcement says a label does not make harmful deception acceptable. A fictional scene should therefore remain clearly fictional in its caption and packaging.
A practical release check
For an AI-drama team, we suggest treating the episode, trailer and character teaser as separate releases. Keep a small asset log naming the generated shots, synthetic voices and human edits in each export. Preserve the original project and any provenance data delivered by your tools. Assign one person to check the actual upload screen and the published result; do not assume a setting chosen for one cut carries into every derivative clip.
If a story imitates news footage or places a recognisable person in a fictional situation, review that presentation before using it as a promotional hook. This is an editorial preparation method, not an assurance that the platform will approve a particular episode. Recheck the current TikTok rules for the target account before a campaign; the dated announcements document the policy’s basis, not a fresh rollout today.
